In early 2004, myself (Daniel Jones, Founder, ReleaseWire LLC) and several family members had identified a need to help small businesses communicate their news in an affordable easy-to-use manner. We started developing SBWire to achieve this goal.

After 20 years of providing small to mid-sized businesses and organizations with affordable and effective press release distribution and related services, ReleaseWire/SBWire will be terminating its service beginning February 1st, 2024.

This decision was not made without exhausting all options we could think of to continue service. After many successful years, our business experienced a dramatic change beginning in 2020 with the COVID 19 pandemic and continued with major declines in 2021 and 2022.

While we recently have worked hard with our team to enact a turnaround plan, and had seen some success over the past year, we were recently made aware that our major content distribution partner would be ending our agreement without prior notice, primarily due to changes in Google’s policies and search ranking algorithm.

I would like to personally thank the many talented people who have worked at ReleaseWire over the past 20 years. I was amazed at the level of professionalism and dedication to our customers.

I would like to also thank every one of the thousands of customers who have chosen ReleaseWire or SBWire for their press release distribution needs. We will miss working with you all.

Key Information of the Termination of Operations

- We will immediately stop allowing new account signups to ReleaseWire/SBWire.
- We will discontinue billing for subscription renewals.
- We will begin the process of shutting down all related websites such as Hosted Newsrooms and ReleaseWire Connect profiles.
- We will begin the process of shutting down ReleaseWire Analytics.
- In the near future, we will discontinue our primary websites ReleaseWire and SBWire.
