The process of dismantling an aircraft at the end of its life as a combined airframe is known as parting out. Aircrafts may be parted out while they are still certified and still in service as the components in them are more valuable. As any product, an aircraft also depreciates in value over time. The value of the aircraft depends on a number of aspects such as increased cost of maintenance, repair and to abide with the legislation. Over a period of time, it becomes expensive for aircraft owners to maintain aircrafts that are out of service. Hence, aircrafts that are out of service are dismantled and recycled. The reusable parts will be sold in the aftermarket or the owners will refurbish and use them in new aircrafts. Metals such as aluminum of the aircrafts are recycled and sold in the aftermarket. AFAR is a global association that is dedicated in pursuing and promoting environmental best practices, regulatory excellence, and sustainable developments in aircraft disassembly.

It almost sounds like something out of George Orwell’s ‘1984’; online software that tracks how much air travelers are willing to pay, disguising portions of airfares as Government taxes and forcing travel agents to charge hefty booking fees that drive business directly back to the airlines. It’s all 100% true, and a new book exposing these airline tactics proves how almost every traveler falls for them with each booking they make.

Since the late 1990s, with the rapid advance in electronic technology making it more affordable and available, radio control flying has become a popular hobby. Unfortunately, many hobbyists experience the expense of having their craft plunge to the ground uncontrollably after experiencing problems in the flight control unit with frozen autopilot, lost GPS or magnetometer. Sometimes this can result in property damage not only to the operator's craft, but also where the craft crashed or even bodily harm if it caused injury to bystanders or others enjoying their day. An Austrian company, GizmoTech GmbH, has created an Auto-Pilot manager and launched an Indiegogo campaign to raise capital bring the circuit control board to the commercial-users, professionals and hobbyist, faster through mass production.

Each time Dan Zimberoff fired up an F-14 Tomcat perched on the deck of an aircraft carrier, he knew that flying a fighter jet demanded a level of brashness and rock star-esque aplomb. He never forgot that he was part of an all-male team that was the envy of many – a culture that has now crashed and burned like the fiery mishaps he witnessed too many times over his distinguished career.

Anyone who has ever flown a rotor-copter type drone ends up spending more time watching the battery’s charge than actually flying it. Even investing the money to buy more batteries will give them little more time to enjoy flying their drone. The plain fact is that a drone wears down the charge on a battery much faster than one can charge it from a wall charger. This has been the frustrating, but accepted norm - until now.
