Fluoropolymers are high performing polymers characterized by numerous strong carbon-fluorine bonds. They were accidentally discovered in 1938, and since then have been extensively used in various industrial and commercial applications. They have many superior properties such as versatility and high chemical resistance. PTFE, PVF, PVDF, ETFE, PFA, and PCTFE are the major types of fluoropolymer. Their major end-users include the Chemical, Electronics, and Automotive industries. In the Healthcare industry, fluoropolymers are used in both traditional and advanced applications, such as packaging of medical liquids and sprays.

Malaysia has a well developed metals sector and is a leading global producer of both steel and tin, However, local producers have been met with increasing pressure from other markets in recent years, with a sharp uptick in Chinese output levels, in particular, leading to downwards pressure on prices and hence production volumes. Out outlook for both the Malaysia steel and tin sectors is therefore one of caution with production growth expected to be moderate over the next few years.

We hold a positive outlook for the Vietnamese consumer, as the government targets economic growth through public spending and promoting investment and exports. We forecast real GDP growth at 5.7% in 2014 and 6.4% in 2015, on the back of supportive government policies, as well as a strong outlook for foreign investment and exports . However, political risks remain in the form of Chinese tensions, which we believe will continue for some time.

Coal is by far the most abundant fossil fuel available in Canada, with recoverable reserves totaling 6.6 billion tonnes (t) at the end of 2013, which, according to BP Statistical Review of World Energy, accounted for 0.7% of global reserves. Around 53% of the reserves are of bituminous grade and coking type, with sub-bituminous and lignite-graded coal accounting for the rest and the majority of these are located in the western provinces of British Colombia, Alberta and Saskatchewan.

After back-to-back years of contraction in both production and consumption in the metals sector in the Ukraine between 2012 and 2013, the sector turned a corner last year. Despite being rocked by the ongoing conflict with Russia and the subsequent political and economic uncertainty BMI estimates that the sector bounced back to post a 3.5% y-o-y gain in output and a 3.1% y-o-y increase in use. Going forward,, Ukraine's metals sector will see modest growth over our forecast period to the end of 2018, with a handful of new projects to increase production growth. Production will not return to pre-crisis highs, however, due to global overcapacity and steel prices not making substantive gains over 2013 - they have, however, since improved. There are no major expansions on the cards, and no major players in either the aluminium or steel industries have announced substantial investment plans.

Tanzania's mining industry will come under pressure over our forecast period to 2018 . This will largely be a result of weakness in global gold prices disincentivizing production growth. Although gold is the current mainstay of the sector , there are plans to diversify into nickel , coal and uranium production in the long term . The mining industry is relatively small in terms of value, but its importance is highlighted by the fact that mining earns a significant share of the country's export revenues. Majo r foreign investors in Tanzania's mining sector include Acacia Mining , (formerly African Barrick Gold) and AngloGold Ashanti .

Emulsion polymers are produced by the radical polymerization of water and a monomer. These two are emulsified with a surfactant to act as the basic raw material for the process. Emulsion polymers are of various types, including Acrylics, Vinyl Polymers, SB Latex, and ANB, among others. Owing to the minimal content of VOCs in emulsion polymers, they are rapidly replacing traditional solvent-based dispersions. They find use in various commercial and industrial sectors. Their applications include Paints and Coatings, Paper Coatings, Adhesives and Sealants, Non-woven Fabrics, and Carpets and others.

Germany's metals sector will continue to feel the squeeze as output prices remain low and costs stay stubbornly high. We forecast subdued growth in consumption of key metals such as steel, copper and aluminium, chiefly due to a muted outlook for economic activity in the country. Key metal consuming sectors such as autos and construction will remain weak. For autos production, we do not foresee a return to growth until 2018 at the earliest.
