Vlad the Impaler, long considered the basis for Bram Stoker’s Dracula, is rising from the grave once again! Full Moon Films and Afflatus Productions has announced the arrival of Derek Hockenbrough’s ‘The Impaler’. The film looks to retell the origin story of Dracula through the notorious Romanian ruler’s death and legacy. However, Vlad III seems to be appearing in more than the gore-ridden Indie Horror flick. Universal Studios has announced that their Dracula reboot ‘Dracula Year Zero’ will also be centering on the transformation of young Vlad III into the fanged demon that we all love.

Kathryn Taylor, the Writer, Director and Producer of an independent feature film entitled “The Evil Gene,” has launched a crowdfunding project on Indiegogo. Taylor’s hopes of raising $30,000 in order to fund offers to potential lead actors will no doubt soon be realized as she, with her team of both new and veteran filmmakers, endeavor to bring the film to production. “The funding is so integral to the project at this moment. The five minute short nonfiction film is filled with both drama and suspense. “Daniel faces what so many kids face, the daily torture of watching their mothers being abused by their fathers.” said McCoy. “It’s no wonder that as the film progresses we see Daniel’s anxiety problems worsen despite the fact that he’s in the later months of his treatment with the drug that’s meant to help him cope.”
