The NSC (National Safety Council) reports that a single work-related disabling injury costs an employer an average of $48,000. The National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI) estimates, based on 2009 data, that medical costs comprise 58 percent of the overall costs of a lost-time claim, and that number keeps climbing. (In fact, the number has risen 11 percent in the past 20 years.) High medical and pharmaceutical costs are driving this hike, but economic conditions—including workers worried about returning to jobs with an uncertain future—are supporting these increases.

Large engineer-to-order companies often have manufacturing and sales organizations in Asia, Europe, and USA. They offer standard products but must be configured differently in each market even though the core design and definition are exactly the same. Instead of creating and maintaining the products in all three entities, with AX2012 they can maintain the core master data once, release the products to the affected entities, then configure or maintain the entity specific data. The product is defined only once at the master level, but the specific configurations or versions of the product are entity specific maintained at the company or regional level. This approach provides two key benefits of tighter control of product data while eliminating much of the redundant information.

After the global financial crisis and subsequent lack of construction activity had a significant negative impact on the construction trucks market, the outlook from 2011 to 2015 (the forecast period) is substantially more promising due to the gradual economic recovery of North American and European countries hit by the recession, the rapid growth of the Asia-Pacific market and the increase in infrastructure construction activity in South America, according to a report by ICD research.

Engineer-to-order manufacturers require ERP solutions that are powerful, agile, yet simple. Engineer to Order (ETO), Build to Order (BTO) or Assemble to Order (ATO) manufacturing provides significant value by designing and building custom products and systems that meet their customer's specifications. Most ERP solutions are not appropriate and do not address the unique process. "Out-of-the-box" usually does not address all ETO business requirements. Engineer to Order ERP solutions must provide flexibility, accuracy, tighter controls, on-demand reports and more.
