Getec Industrial, manufacturers of heat sinks, extruded aluminum, and drawn tube, provides an overview of how to select a heat sink. The problem is that every device builds up heat as waste energy during operation, energy that lowers the operating efficiency and can damage the device. Designers employ a heat sink to conduct heat away from a hot surface, distributing it across a broader area and dissipating the energy into another medium, usually air. This maintains the device temperature at the operating levels prescribed by the designer and manufacturer. Here's what's required to select a heat sink.

The innovative Magline LiftPlus is a combination stacker, transporter, and positioner that uses an electric screw drive system for smooth, quiet lifting of up to 350 pounds. The added versatility over standard hand trucks is significant, according to Stewart Burton, general manager of applied research and development at Magline, "The LiftPlus has four wheels, so you don't have to worry about tipping it back. It has 10-inch disc brakes, so if you're unloading, it won't scoot away from you. It lifts, so once you've transported materials where they need to go, you can lift it into place for offloading and to load."

The Magliner CooLift system changes the experience for drivers and storeowners. The differences start in the warehouse, where orders are picked, loaded, and wrapped on CooLift pallets before being added to end-load trailers. This eliminates the drivers picking and loading at customer locations and allows drivers to load both CooLift and bulk pallets, potentially reducing fleet size by up to 25 percent.

Chris Visnic, VP of Seegrid Sales, explains 2015 was a banner year with over 17.5 million vehicles sold in the U.S., according to the Wall Street Journal—the automotive industry is poised to continue this pattern of growth through 2016 and beyond. That doesn't mean the industry is without challenges, though. Automakers are beginning to feel the effects of an increasingly competitive market as an influx of tech companies enter the automotive game, embracing big data to identify and solve problems, and touting a "fail fast" mentality that enables the quick production of innovative new products.
