A Virtual Assistant (VA) is a highly trained micro business owner who provides administrative, and possibly personal, support to a handful of clients. Using phone, fax, email and other emerging technologies, a VA is able to provide this administrative support without having to be physically present in the client’s office. Everything is handled from the comfort of the VA’s home office.

Rowley, who worked in the life insurance industry for over 25 years, plans to work primarily with life insurance agents, assisting them with moving their applications through the underwriting process. “This will give the agents more time to service existing clients and submit larger numbers of applications while increasing their commissions at the same time,” Rowley says.

“I know how difficult it is to maintain a career when your spouse is reappointed to a different church in a different city every few years”, Rowley says. “I also know from experience that sometimes the only choice, though not the ideal situation, is to maintain separate residences for the sake of job opportunities.” She hopes to use her business, A Virtual Solution, to promote the virtual assistant profession to other clergy spouses.
