February is a particularly hot month for Miami Beach local events last weekend was the International Boat Show which drew record numbers of boat enthusiasts to South Beach. This weekend’s festival is likely to boost the local economy even further with the only downside to locals being bumper-to-bumper traffic because of the event’s popularity and island location.

In his opening statement before the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, Senator Paul S. Sarbanes (of Sarbanes-Oxley fame) cited a study by the U.S. Public Interest Research Group showing that the majority of credit reports contain at least one error (70%); in many cases these mistakes were serious enough to deny the consumer access to credit (25%). In that time he has made donations and renovations to the park and marina, but his greatest donation came in the form of 175 coconut palm trees donated to the park after Hurricane Andrew decimated most of the indigenous palm trees in 1992. The horrific storm was followed by a yellow disease that all but wiped out the iconic palm trees in the park.
