The International Institute for Aging and Wellness (IIAW) will hold its first ever S.A.F.E Divas Academy on Saturday November 22, 2014, from 10am – 3pm. Marking Make A Difference Day today, members of Assistance League® of Greater Portland gave 1,918 children’s books to several community organizations serving youth in the local area. Recipients included Children’s Book Bank, Janus Youth Programs, Operation School Bell and Aloha Community Library. Books were collected at schools, recreation centers, a bank and a synagogue. This is the third year in a row that Assistance League has organized a book drive.

The Isabella Santos Foundation, a foundation for children with cancer, has announced they have reached and surpassed their goal of raising one million dollars for the fight against Neuroblastoma. With the goal completed, there are no plans of stopping anytime soon. Over the past seven years, they have raised money through various charity events to reach this feat, with their Annual 5K for Kids Cancer being the largest event for the foundation.

The Spady Cultural Heritage Museum, working with Florida Atlantic University’s Department of History, will begin working to collect stories from key members of the Delray Beach community in an effort to learn about and engage the community in the history of the integration of Delray’s public beach in 1962.
