Though there are many scientists working towards finding a cure for HIV, nobody was successful. Antiviral therapy is required for people to fight against this deadly disease and a HIV prophylactic vaccine too is necessary. The “International Workshop on HIV reservoirs and Eradication Strategies” has been formed in 2003 only to find a solution to the issue of HIV persistence. Because not only current treatments for HIV are very costly, but they are unable to get rid of HIV and must be administered life long. This implies problems of compliance, resistance and toxicity. The aim of this workshop is to develop novel strategies tackling HIV reservoirs and control them without the need of continued antiretroviral therapy.
