We see Poland as one of the most attractive IT markets in the region over the medium term based on its untapped potential amid ongoing technology trends and are becoming increasingly bullish as our strong macroeconomic outlook plays out. Household purchasing power is being supported by a combination of low inflation and employment growth , and we expect rising incomes will drive retail hardware spending . H owever in the short-term the rapid transition in consumer spending away from notebooks to low-cost tablets, will sustain unit sales growth but squeeze the total value of sales. Enterprise and government spending has a stronger outlook over the medium term, in part supported by the distribution of EU funds for ICT and information society-related initiatives. Meanwhile, we also point to the potential for not only domestic cloud services, but also for Poland to become a regional cloud services hub following the expected harmonisation of data security and privacy regulations. Companies such as Cloud Technologies SA will be well-placed to take advantage of these trends.

Our core scenario for Turkey is bullish over the medium term as a convergence of income growth, declining device prices, inward investment and domestic modernisation initiatives drive demand growth. Turkey has seen foreign investment in ICT rise over the last three years and it is increasingly viewed as a regional hub, with a strategic geographical location. Meanwhile, the government will also be a positive factor through a supportive policy umbrella and its goals for Vision 2023. However, there exists significant downside risk, from both the vulnerability of the economy to external shocks and the increasing concerns about the domestic political situation. Internet censorship is a growing characteristic of the Erdogan administration and could put off some investors from investing in internet start-ups, while an escalation of the eurozone crisis, a hard landing in China or a deterioration of the regional security situation could all derail growth.

The global market for 3D printers mainly comprises of two types of products. There are many economically priced products that fail to deliver the quality of 3D prints users need. On the other hand, there are many high end 3D printers that are capable of generating high quality 3D prints. However, these printers are extremely complex to configure and use. Hardcotton has designed a modular 3D printer named Elemental that makes 3D printing efficient, affordable and simple.

The development of the Slovenian IT market was stymied in 2012 and 2013 by the challenging economic environment - but BMI now forecasts a more robust economic recovery in Slovenia from 2014, which should put the IT market back on a faster medium term growth trajectory. Despite the major challenges faced in recent years the IT market has performed relatively well, and as confidence returns there will be opportunities for vendors. Privatisations by the government, the wider trend of modernisation of enterprises and public administration underpin our forecast for a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 3.0% between 2014 and 2018. Enterprise spending growth will be the strongest area of the market, especially newer technologies such as cloud computing, but we also highlight opportunities in the retail market. Tablet penetration is low, at just 13.8% in 2013, indicating significant growth potential remains in the market.

Economic recovery is expected to result in a slight acceleration in IT spending growth in 2015 to 4.2%. However, we caution that enterprise confidence will remain susceptible to shifts in sentiment, with a re-escalation of the eurozone crisis or the security situation in Ukraine the most prominent potential flashpoints. Under our core scenario higher levels of business and consumer confidence will see demand growth, while deferred purchases from the previous period of uncertainty, particularly in enterprise software and IT services, will add to momentum. One area we expect to see a slowdown is in enterprise hardware demand, after sales were boosted in 2014 by the withdrawal of official support for the XP operating system. Overall, the acceleration in growth will cement the Czech IT market's status as a regional leader in Central and Eastern Europe, with a strong domestic skills base, investment by international firms, local entrepreneurship and high penetration of devices and solutions.

A portable charger which comes in the form of a power bank is the next big thing when it comes to “mobile power problems”. This add-on tool is definitely “life saving”. Not really exaggerating the benefits of a power bank, but anyone who is in the middle of an important business call would certainly thank the inventor of the power bank when after experiencing running out of battery, he has on his side a power bank to his rescue.

The very strong growth in the UK tablets and other portable computers category continued in 2014, albeit at a slower rate than earlier in the review period. It posted a double-digit retail volume increase for the fifth consecutive year. A series of new products was launched in 2013/14 with major retailers such as Tesco, Aldi and Argos all entering the category by offering tablets at a relatively low price in a bid to compete with established computer brands.

We have a positive medium term outlook against other developed markets, as t he UK government has sought in recent years to strengthen the UK's position as a hub for innovation, which has begun to yield some results in areas such as the app economy and there are promising signs for growth of emerging technologies such as datacentres and cloud services and Big Data that are subject to government support. However , we continue to point to significant downside, as spending is squeezed by fiscal austerity measures, fragile business and consumer confidence and a decline in desktop and notebook shipments. Furthermore, the failure of high profile public IT projects in recent years has heightened public scepticism about further projects and resulted in much tighter scrutiny of spending. The result of these trends is a forecast for UK IT spending to increase 3. 4 %, to GBP 57.8 bn in 2014.

MEMS oscillators are designed and developed to replace the established quartz crystal oscillators. MEMS oscillators are timing devices that have several advantages over quartz crystal oscillators. Better reliability, higher frequency stability, mechanical shock and vibration resistance, and smaller in size are features that are highly suited for several end-products that require MEMS oscillators. Due to several such advantages end-users are increasingly adopting MEMS oscillators, driving the growth of the Global MEMS Oscillators market.

Shipment value arrived at around US$4.58 billion in the second quarter. In anticipation of the release of more desktop PCs powered with new Intel and AMD platforms in the second half of 2014, the industry's shipment volume is projected to grow further. The Romania IT market is forecast outperform the majority of its peers as a result of a strong economic recovery and its position as a regional centre for skilled IT professionals. We forecast total IT market spending will increase to RON 5.4 bn in 2014, growth of 9.1% in local currency terms from 2013. Over the medium term i ncome growth will support the retail hardware market , while improvements to telecommunications infrastructure is forecast to accelerate the development of Romania as an outsourcing and cloud computing market. However, r egional economic and security instability could derail this bullish outlook, but the wider region could also drive the market to a higher growth trajectory.

We have a positive outlook for the growth of Singapore's IT market , which will underperform emerging market growth rates, but is expected to outperform against other developed markets. Strong income growth, exposure to the APAC growth story and government policy will all support IT market growth over the medium term. Growth from the sales of PC and devices will slow as high device penetration in the city state means little prospect for first time sales , but short replacement cycles and strong demand for premium devices will ensure it remains a lucrative market for vendors . Considering the government active push to promote Singapore as a destination for cloud, big data and analytics services, Singapore should be a strong contender in the data centre space against peers such as Australia, Taiwan, South Korea and Hong Kong.

Saudi Arabia offers compelling growth opportunities for IT solution providers across multiple industry verticals owing to the kingdom's strong macro fundamentals and the government's economic diversification plan, which is driving growth and investment in the private sector. We believe that global IT firms with considerable local presence will benefit the most from this opportunity. A number of major IT firms have already taken steps in recent years to ramp up their operations in the country, usually through partnerships with local system integrators .

Although Qatar's small population limits growth opportunities in the IT market, it is nevertheless supported by high private consumption levels and strong government support for the ICT sector. ICT has been a major beneficiary of government policies to diversify Qatar's economy away from hydrocarbons, notably through ictQATAR's ICT-2015 strategy and the government's push to build smart cities. These government initiatives have led to ambitious investments in network infrastructure which will encourage broader take-up of IT services as well as development of innovative IT systems. However , we note that increased diplomatic tensions between Qatar and other GCC member states pose downside risk to our economic outlook for the country, which could in turn curtail the government's ability to maintain high levels of investment in the ICT sector over the long term.

The outlook for US IT spending remains strong when compared to the majority of developed markets over the medium term, as a result of stronger economic performance and a greater interest from enterprises in the latest products and solutions. Cloud computing, real-time enterprise software, security and big data are all areas of spending in which we expect to see strong growth, particularly in the latter years of our forecast. the retail hardware outlook is more mixed, as we expect continued demand growth for tablets in the retail market; however, desktop and notebook sales continue to be squeezed.. Total spending is expected to reach USD665 bn in 201 4, up 5. 3 % from 201 3 , and grow at a CAGR of 4.4 % 2014- 201 8.

China continues to outperform in terms of IT spending growth and IT sector development. Despite rapid growth in the past decade the market remains attractive with strong growth prospects resulting from (inter alia) the size of population, rising incomes, relatively low market penetration and a supportive poli tical environment . IT spending growth in China is expected to outperform on a regional and global basis, with a CAGR of 9. 7 % forecast 2014-2018 as IT spending increases as a share of GDP . However, China's IT market is not without its challenges as the pool of first-time buyers diminishes and vendors continue to struggle in the face of ongoing high levels of piracy, cyber security issues , intense competition for price-sensitive consumers and uncertainty generated by regulatory decisions . BMI believes that t he outlook is positive overall , with the caveats mentioned above.
