Proposed legislature could soon bring major changes for a number of Medicaid recipients. This development leaves an estimated 100 million Americans searching for solutions in the event the Senate's latest tax bill regarding healthcare passes. With this in mind, Hugo Gallegos has launched medifees.com, a new website geared toward the needs of those caught in the gap left by such reformation.

The latest revision of the attempt to strip away many of the healthcare consumer protections passed under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) is little changed in substance: it still allows insurers to discriminate based on pre-existing conditions and sell plans that are essentially junk coverage. Tens of millions of people will lose their health insurance coverage, millions more will pay more for less.

According to USA Today (April 9, 2017) the U.S. Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) paid $2 million dollars in bonuses to top administrators despite failures to deal with overcrowding, chronic staffing shortages, sexual harassment problems and providing inadequate healthcare to thousands of inmates. One former BOP official told government auditors that medical staffing vacancies had reached a "crisis level" and in 2016, the Inspector General found that prison authorities were struggling to provide adequate healthcare to thousands of inmates due to persistent staffing shortages. The staffing shortages, according to a USA Today examination last year, were cascading across the system, often forcing unqualified nurses, physical therapists and other senior medical staffers to fill gaps on guard duty and other security-related shifts -- a poor decision that has endangered both prison staff and the public. "Fraud waste and abuse at federal prison camps is the real crisis for the BOP," contends Lamont Banks, Executive Director of A Just Cause.

According to the February 8, 2017 Bloomberg Criminal Law Reporter (Vol. 100, no. 18, pg. 393), House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) and Ranking Democrat John Conyers (D-MI) are ready to release criminal justice reform legislation but are waiting on a green light from the White House. A Just Cause is urging Congress and President Trump to close 76 federal prison camps and eliminate this wasteful extension of the welfare system that, according the Federal Bureau of Prisons website, houses, clothes, feeds and provides healthcare for nearly 22,000 non-violent offenders.

"President Trump's current criticism of federal judges, while unwarranted, is refreshing because the media takes a hands-off approach in dealing with wrongdoing by federal judges and prosecutors, even when there is irrefutable evidence," says Lamont Banks, Executive Director of A Just Cause. Today, A Just Cause presents an opinion by Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch where he reversed and remanded a criminal case on the same legal grounds his 10th Circuit peers, trial judge Christine M. Arguello, U.S. Attorney John Walsh and federal prosecutor Matthew T. Kirsch, disregarded to uphold the wrongful conviction in the IRP6 case (Dist. Colo. no. 09-cr-00266-CMA), which is the subject of a judicial complaint (bit.ly/2ba9827) and a letter (bit.ly/2b06Rpm) to Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, John Roberts.

On January 26, 2017, in the 2011 federal crime case (Dist. of Colo. case no. 09-cr-00266-CMA), Colorado Springs attorney Gwendolyn Lawson filed a motion seeking disclosure of grand jury materials to challenge the suspicious actions of Assistant United States Attorney Matthew T. Kirsch before the grand jury. Lawson believes that Kirsch vindictively pursued a second grand jury and engaged in misconduct that prejudiced or biased grand jurors into issuing an indictment. The first grand jury apparently rejected Kirsch's illegitimate attempt to gain a criminal indictment against six technology executives (known on the Internet as the IRP6) from IRP Solutions Corporation in Colorado Springs, for failing to pay corporate debts to staffing companies. "But if I don't pay somebody for the work they've done, that is not a federal crime," one grand juror pointed out in the original grand jury. In the second grand jury, Kirsch eliminated all defendants' witnesses that testified in the first grand jury, choosing only to call a single, newly-assigned FBI agent, Robert Moen, as his sole witness, presumably, to conceal prior evidence presented to the original grand jury, to gain an indictment.

In a letter to members of Congress (bit.ly/2f637lE), A Just Cause asks them to take an active role in advocating for the freeing of six wrongly-convicted Colorado software executives of the IRP Solutions Corporation who are known on the Internet as the IRP6. The men were wrongly-convicted and have spent over 4 years at a federal prison camp in Florence, Colorado. "This was more than destruction of a small, promising software company...This is a human issue that deserves compassion for the plight of children who have unfairly lost their fathers, mothers who have unfairly lost their sons, wives who have unfairly lost their husbands and siblings who have unfairly lost their brothers," Lamont Banks, Executive Director of A Just Cause, said in the letter.

According to an April 1, 2016 nextgov.com article, President Obama's Chief Information Officer Tony Scott has called the government's reliance on outdated technology a "crisis" that rivals Y2k/Year-2000 computer glitch. The congressional 9/11 commission found that the FBI's antiquated case management system and processes contributed to information sharing failures that led to the 9/11 attacks (govinfo.library.unt.edu/911/report/index.htm). It is no secret, especially in DC that both the Department of Homeland Security and FBI have yet to modernize their case management systems that are used by tens of thousands of federal agents to conduct criminal and terrorism investigations. Since 9/11 two large defense contractors, SAIC & Lockheed Martin, have wasted over a billion dollars of taxpayer money on failed case management projects. SAIC's $458 million Virtual Case File (VCF) was declared "unfit for use" in 2004 and according to FBI Chief Technology Officer Jack Israel's interview with Fierce Government IT in 2012, Lockheed Martin's $800 million-dollar Sentinel project's "demise" occurred when trying to "build an independent electronic case management system."

A Just Cause continues to fight for families and friends to be treated with respect and decency as they visit their loved ones in federal prisons. AJC has contacted numerous members of Congress and Federal Bureau of Prisons Director Thomas Kane to intervene in continuing harassment and disrespect by prison staff to inmates and their families in the visiting room at the minimum security federal prison camp in Florence, Colorado. "Florence prison officials told me that the inmates greeting loved ones from the Colorado Springs Fellowship Church group is considered 'special treatment' and will not be tolerated because it is a threat to security and presents an opportunity to pass contraband," says Lamont Banks, Executive Director of A Just Cause. "The church group has been visiting for four years without incident under two Wardens, but when Warden Stancil took over in March 2015 the church group were viewed as potential criminals and have been treated poorly by staff ever since," adds Banks.

In an August 15, 2015 letter to Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, advocacy organization A Just Cause, citing bias, asks that an appeal for a 10th Circuit judicial complaint by the IRP6 defendants be transferred to another circuit (bit.ly/2b06RpM). A Just Cause says in the letter that 10th Circuit Chief Judge Timothy Tymkovich's claims that the complaint does not provide "sufficient evidence to raise an inference that misconduct has occurred" defies reality. There is "irrefutable evidence" that the trial judge and 3-judge appellate panel appear to arbitrarily and intentionally depart from prevailing law, use prosecutorial conjecture in the place of actual facts from the printed record and were "willfully indifferent" to constitutional violations that occurred at trial. AJC further states in the letter that there is a "high probability" that 10th Circuit judges may "harbor a deep-rooted bias" against the IRP6 defendants and their organization due to harsh public criticism about the judges' handling of the case.

On July 21, 2016, A Just Cause issued a press release concerning the Warden allegedly engaging in a campaign of bullying families and a church group that visits the men known as the IRP6. On July 22, 2016, the men were called into the office of Camp Administrator Segovia where Acting Warden Garrido, Associate Warden Johns and the captain were present. Reliable sources claim that, "They were told their visiting privileges were suspended until further notice. Later that evening, the men were called to the Counselor's office and given official written a notice from Warden Stancil stating: "effective immediately, and pursuant to the authority in Bureau of Prisons Program Statement 5267.09, your social visiting privileges have been temporarily suspended pending the outcome of an investigation into possible threats to the good order or security of the institution," says A Just Cause.

"Protests and cries of African-Americans seem to be falling on deaf ears as justice appears to exclude the color blue and officials show indifference to life and liberty of blacks," says Lamont Banks, Executive Director of A Just Cause. CBS TV News reported that A Baltimore judge has acquitted 4 out of 6 police officers, saying that failure of police to buckle-up a hog-shackled Freddie Gray in a patty wagon that resulted in his death is not criminal, it is only poor judgment. "If a parent exercised poor judgment and failed to buckle-up their child that was killed in an accident they would be charged and convicted of voluntary manslaughter or some other negligence-related homicide," adds Banks. "A hog-tied Gray is as vulnerable as that child because he is incapable of restraining himself from being tossed around a metal patty wagon," says Banks. "We should all be treated equally under the law," asserts Banks.

Advocacy group, A Just Cause, alleges that Warden M.A. Stancil at Federal Prison Camp in Florence, Colorado is discriminating against a Colorado Springs Fellowship Church (CSFC) group, some of whom are family, because they simply want to greet inmates they have known for 20 years or more who attended their church. On July 13, 2016, Associate Warden Johns allegedly threatened to throw any inmate who was caught greeting their friends and family into the "bucket", which is a common term for solitary confinement in the prison." My Son David and Clinton Stewart share the nephew named Cole who is currently on Clinton's visiting list. Under Stancil's rule, Cole cannot be on David's visiting even though he is a family member and if David says hello to him, he will be sent to solitary confinement," says Rose Banks, Pastor of CSFC.

The terror attacks in Turkey underscore that America has a continuing need to improve intelligence, investigative and technological superiority to combat the threat of ISIS carrying out an attack on the U.S. homeland. "The inferior, antiquated case management technology that the congressional 9/11 commission said contributed to the 9/11 attacks remains in use by the vast majority of federal law enforcement agencies, while six case management innovators (IRP6) continue languishing in federal prison because of constitutional neglect by the federal courts and Colorado U.S Attorney's Office," says Lamont Banks, Executive Director of A Just Cause.
